Jeremy Lyons

Jeremy Lyons is the Chief Executive of Ashdown Lyons. Jeremy spent the first 20 years of his life in the Lake District and South Lancashire and then attended Reading University to complete an honours degree in Estate Management. He started his professional career in Reigate District Valuers Office whilst here he was involved in the valuation of a wide range of properties, not only residential and commercial but also petrol filling stations, a mushroom farm, ferret farm and stud farm to mention but a few.

Jeremy qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1978, in the late 1970’s and joined practice the well known firm Fuller Moon and Fuller in Croydon. Where he carried out surveys and valuations throughout South West London, Surrey and Sussex. Jeremy moved to the Worcestershire/Herefordshire borders and spent a brief period combining his favourite surveying duties with estate agency. However Jeremy missed the challenges of London and the busy South East and returned to join Bridgers in Surrey. Bridgers was later acquired by the Hamptons Group and became a Regional Director responsible for professional services throughout London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

In 1990 Jeremy left Hamptons to form Ashdown Lyons. Jeremy enjoys being involved in the exciting growth and management of the Company. Ashdown Lyons is now one of Southern England’s premier independent Chartered Surveyors operating out of 25 offices in over 20 counties, 65 surveyors hand picked for their experience and professionalism. Ashdown Lyons reputation for providing independent and insightful local knowledge has allowed him to build a business with partners who depend on Ashdown Lyons considered judgement. Jeremy’s aim is simple to use the wealth of Ashdown Lyons experience and knowledge to provide a first class, efficient and professional service to clients. Jeremy is a keen Manchester United fan, has an eclectic taste in music and enjoys golf, skiing and travelling far flung places and has a vast knowledge of wines of the world.

Robin JonsonRobin joined Jeremy at Ashdown Lyons in the Spring of 2004 as Managing Director. Robin brings a wealth of experience having spent 18 years working within the Lending and Retail Banking Industry and 6 years as Operations Director for 20Twenty. Robin has therefore been party to the two sides of the mortgage valuation triangle and brings this diverse strength to the company which requires a dynamic management team in order to deal with the fast changing face of the surveying market.

Outside work, Robin’s interests include rugby, motor cycling, golf and fine wines.

Richard TaylorRichard qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1989. He has worked both north and south of the river and has been involved in the London property market for many years dealing with both residential and commercial properties.
He is particularly skilled in development appraisals and investment valuation work and has also acted as an expert witness, regularly appearing in the County and High Courts.

Richard has been with us from an early stage and launched our very successful north London operation. He has an unmatched, all round knowledge of this part of the capital and is now responsible for our entire northern region.

Bill Wilkie has worked in the south east and east Kent, in particular, since the 1970s. Bill started his career in the District Valuer's office. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1973 when he was awarded the Harriot Prize in the subject of commercial law.
Bill subsequently joined Worsfolds, a 15 office multi-practice east Kent estate agency and professional firm. He was based in Canterbury and carried out a wide range of valuation and professional work whilst there. He became a partner in 1975.

In 1987 Bill moved on and was appointed Sales Director of General Accident Property Services ( when Worsfolds were acquired ). He subsequently became National Corporate Client Director and Regional Managing Director responsible for 50 offices in the south east.

As you would expect, Bill has not let all of this experience go to waste and he now looks after both our southern and eastern regions as well as finding time to carry out his surveying duties.

Bill appears regularly on the radio, and in the media, as a property spokesman.

He has been back in home territory since 1999 and now specialises in the valuation and survey of all types of residential property throughout east Kent.

Simon White

Simon began his professional career in the early 1980’s in Manchester surveying everything from mill cottages to cotton mill owners’ mansions in deepest Lancashire. In the mid 1980’s Simon spent two years in Spain advising on the development and expansion of La Manga Club, which has gone on to be Europe’s premier golf resort.

Simon has been with Ashdown Lyons almost from the beginning and for many years was the Wimbledon Office Managing Surveyor.

In 2003 Simon was made a Director of Ashdown Lyons and is responsible for the Company’s Premier Division which deals with high value properties mainly in Central London

Simons chief interests are golf, book collecting and in this respect has a very sizeable collection of Victorian magazines and also Conan Doyle first editions. Over the last four years Simon has also been a weekly columnist in Mortgage Strategy Magazine which is the widest read paper in the mortgage industry.

Marilyn ConnellMarilyn is the company's Business Development Manager and a key member of the Customer Relationship Team.
She hails from Leicestershire and, following the completion of her education, joined a large consumer finance company. She was responsible for the underwriting and processing of secured and unsecured loans. Having learnt the trade Marilyn moved onto a brokerage house and soon became a director with responsibility for the day to day running of the company.

Marilyn then moved to Cambridgeshire and joined a well-known High Street lender, which broadened her knowledge of the property and finance industries.

Marilyn's strengths are her communication skills. It is so hard to say no to her. Throughout her career she has majored upon customer communication and has liaised with surveyors, lenders, brokers, solicitors, estate agents, captains of industry, politicians, celebrities and customers.

Marilyn became a mother in 2000 and very successfully juggles family life with the joy of working for Ashdown Lyons.
